"I love sharing my practice with Carissa. I have lower back pain , so it is very important for me to modify some of the yoga poses. Carissa always explains to her class how to modify each pose as needed. She reminds the class that each person is there to create their own practice. This allows each class member to reach their own individualized potential. The class can be filled with all different ages and levels and everyone has the ability to leave happy and contented because they reached their personal ability and goal for that day."

"I have been a student of yoga for over ten years. It is the one type of exercise I enjoy. Carissa’s positive energy and attention to posture really helped me to eliminate my back pain discomfort while also strengthening my upper body and tone areas I never knew I had muscles in.”

"I am a very large guy, 13 marathons and over 25 years of heavy weight-lifting, cycling, skiing and incline skating started to take it's toll. As I got older I found it was taking longer to recover between workouts and injuries became more frequent. I have been attending yoga classes with Carissa for over 5 years. If it wasn't for yoga I may not have been able to continue doing what I love. Although it has made a huge difference physically, Carissa's yoga classes have been very positive for my mental well-being. Yoga has made me a much calmer person, more focused and less stressed. Carissa's yoga class is for all levels. Whether a first timer or experienced, you will feel like a different person after one of her classes. Her knowledge and personality make her classes both enjoyable and challenging."

My fiftieth birthday is approaching fast and one of the best things I have ever done for myself was to join "Yoga Flow" at The Yoga Gym 18 months ago.

I have had neck, shoulder and mid back pain since my mid-twenties and have managed it with exercise, Chiropractic care and avoiding certain movements. Nothing has helped me maintain a pain free lifestyle like my yoga practice. I have become aware of the proper use of my body and the results have been amazing. I spend long hours with a computer terminal at work without causing that ache between my shoulder blades by maintaining my posture, knowing how to stretch and shifting between sitting on an office chair and a yoga ball. Yoga has improved my skiing because of better balance and mindset (non-judgment and competition, ability to focus and just be in the moment). Normal day to day activities, such as vacuuming or moving things, no longer result in self injury because I know how to engage my muscles as they were designed to function. My husband enjoys the changes as well.

The classes themselves are refreshing, no two are ever alike. I walk in and turn my body and mind over for guidance from the instructor, am encouraged to be grateful to my body for "my own perfect expression of the posture". Correction is gentle, usually using verbal cues and always supportive and helpful. Though I need to attend class to keep up my momentum and learn new things, my practice continues at home maximizing the benefits.

"I am a 47-year old male. I have been attending Carissa's yoga classes for close to six years now. I enjoy her classes much more than other yoga classes I've taken, for a variety of reasons.

Carissa has an infectious personality that really shines through in her classes. she's energetic, friendly, and relaxed. She allows her sense of humor to show through her teaching. She creates and encourages a very non-competitive atmosphere which makes her classes far less intimidating than are many yoga studio classes that I've attended.

Her knowledge of yoga, the poses and benefits of each, is extensive. She is very focused on the form of the poses, and making sure that each and every student modifies the poses to suit his or her body and fitness level. Carissa is excellent at providing verbal cues to assist you as you try to improve the form of your poses.

The variety of her classees is incredible. It seems that no 2 classes are ever quite alike. She always seems to come up with varied sequences and combinations of poses, which I think keeps the material fresh and new.

I really, really enjoy Carissa's classes-each and every one. I highly recommend her yoga class to anyone who enjoys yoga-new or experienced, young or old, male or female."
